College Net Cost
The College Net Cost uses personalized net price estimates from College Raptor’s net price calculator engine to reflect the cost of college after all expected grants and scholarships have been applied. College Raptor’s net price calculations use a proprietary, data-driven machine learning engine to estimate the cost of college for each student at each college in the US. The estimate includes tuition, room and board, books, travel costs, and personal expenses. Cost estimates are based on specific academic and financial characteristics of the student as well as models that estimate each college’s need- and merit-based aid practices. The estimate is adjusted for inflation based on historic price data for each college. Net cost for Public In-State, Public Out-of-State, Private, and Community colleges uses a weighted average of personalized net price estimates from all colleges of each type selected for the student. The College Net Cost is an estimate and may differ from the actual net price provided by the college. To have the most accurate cost estimates, we encourage each student/family to consult with the financial aid offices of the colleges for which the student is interested.
The Total College Net Cost is the estimated cost for the student’s entire duration of college. The student’s duration of college is assumed to be 2 years for community colleges and 4 years for public and private colleges unless a different duration has been indicated.
